What to Eat in New York?

How about eating in nice places and not paying dearly for meals? Here, I have 10 tips on where to eat cheap in New York for you! The options are not “pick-up” restaurants and all the food is good!

In New York, cheap restaurants are those where a full meal costs up to $40 per person. But I also put several options that cost less than half that amount!

New York is an expensive city and many tourists are scared by the prices of restaurants. That saying “those who convert don't have fun” becomes even more serious in the Big Apple.

As a big doubt of our readers is how much money to set aside for food, I created three posts with places to eat in New York. Of course, how much money each person should bring is very particular, as everyone has their own preferences.

Delicious Hamburger:

The hamburger cannot be missing from any New York food list in the United States. It can be found at the most chic restaurant in town, even at the corner booth!

The hamburger is the type of dish that needs no introduction and in the city it has several versions, with variations of bread, meat, sauces, etc. Among the most famous hamburgers in the city we can mention the Shake Shack and the Burger Joint.

Hot Dog:

There's no way, when thinking about food in New York, hot-dog immediately comes to mind. And no wonder, on almost every corner you'll find a stall or a restaurant that sells hot dogs. Among the more traditional are Gray’s Papaya, Papaya Dog and Nathan’s Famous.

Eggs:

Eggs benedict is a very typical New York dish that was even created in the city. It is nothing more than poached eggs (with the yolk very soft), served with bacon, hollandaise sauce and bread.

It's mainly marketed at New York's famous brunches, those mid-morning meals that mix breakfast with lunch.

If you want to try brunch, they're mostly served on weekends. Some of the most famous in town are Delmonico’s, Norma’s, Sarabeth’s and Russ & Daughters Café.

Pret A Manger

The British chain has several stores in New York and always offers fresh products that must be sold on the same day they were manufactured. There you can find salads, soups, sandwiches, wraps, fruits and a good part of cafeteria, such as croissants and cookies.

A salad, for example, costs around US$8. A fruit salad or yogurt with cereal is in the $4 range. A complete meal with quinoa, chicken, vegetables and salad is $12.
